About Me

My Christian walk started in my mid 20’s when I courted and married a girl from a Christian family - they went to church so I tagged along.

For 8 years I attended an Anglican church and gradually became more involved with church life, especially the Scout Group and I was confirmed by the Bishop of Portsmouth as an adult. I was at that time more a church goer than any sort of committed Christian. My wife prayed that I would have a real experience of God, and through some hard and desperate events, I did and became a committed Christian.

We then went to a House Church for a couple of years and through that I worked also with a Baptist Church. These two churches believed that God was calling me to be a Minister, I was selected and then trained for 3 years at Bristol Baptist College and was ordained in 1996. Since then I have ministered in Baptist and Wesleyan Methodist churches and occasionally in Anglican churches and at present I worship in St Georges Parish Church in Lee Mount.

I am not a Denominationalist, I believe in one God – One Catholic (worldwide) Church. I listen to people and do not preach religion at them, I believe a funeral is a Celebration of a life lived, rather than a mourning of death, a chance to help family and friends have a meaningful service that ends with an eternal hope of life beyond death. I am also there at any time after the service if need be and will pre-arrange a funeral service.

I lost my first wife to cancer after a long and painful 4 year battle, in December 2004, so I have experienced the pain, the loss and the grieving and can therefore empathise with those in grief and mourning. I have also been blessed to find someone else and have re-married and am very happy – life does go on and there is happiness to be found and whatever our circumstance there is always the treasured memories of those we have lost and the eternal hope we will see them again.

Following a Motorbike accident in April 2011. I discovered I was diabetic, type 2, so a radical change of diet, NO SUGAR and I used the Alternate Day Fast Diet. (every other day I ate only 500-600 calories). Result... the pictures speak for themselves, I lost 4st, went from 38" to 33" waist (and no belly). Blood sugar is now normal, blood pressure ok and cholesterol low.

Lots of support from, my wife Jane who said I have probably put 20 years on my life (and she tried not to look disappointed).
